Join internationally recognized clinical psychologist, trainer, and author Dr. Karen Treisman (MBE) for an engaging and hands-on session introducing her award-winning Trauma Deck of Cards — a dynamic, multi-purpose toolkit designed to deepen understanding and enhance conversations about trauma, healing, and resilience. 

This interactive training invites participants to explore innovative, trauma-informed approaches that move beyond traditional talking therapies. Using artful, accessible prompts and visual metaphors, Dr. Treisman demonstrates how these cards can gently open pathways to dialogue, reflection, and connection. They are ideal for use with individuals, teams, and groups — as well as for personal growth and professional supervision.

The Trauma Deck of Cards includes four distinctive sets that capture the richness and complexity of human experience:

  • Types of Trauma: Understanding the breadth of traumatic experiences and their impact.
  • Survival and Adaptive Responses: Exploring how people cope, adapt, and build resilience.
  • Signs and Signals of Trauma: Recognizing patterns, symptoms, and cues of distress.
  • Sentence Completion Prompts: Encouraging reflection, creativity, and meaning-making through guided statements.

Participants will learn creative and practical strategies for integrating the cards into:

  • Therapeutic settings to support clients in processing and expressing emotions.
  • Reflective and supervision spaces to deepen practitioner insight and empathy.
  • Training and organizational development to spark conversations about trauma-informed culture and practice.

This session offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from the creator herself — blending expertise, compassion, and playfulness to bring trauma concepts to life in memorable, accessible ways.

This training is conducted by Dr. Karen Treisman, a clinical psychologist, trainer, and author, based in London, England. She specializes in trauma-informed, hope-infused, and culturally responsive care. Her work brings together psychological theory, practical strategies, and creativity to make complex ideas engaging and accessible for professionals, parents/ caregivers, teens, and children alike.

  • Reflect on their own practice and consider how to infuse trauma-informed values of curiosity, compassion, and connection through the use of creative tools like the Trauma Deck.

We have a wide variety of people attend our trainings from licensed professionals (Masters and Doctorial Level) as well as paraprofessionals and peer-facilitators.  Because professionals tend to work in interdisciplinary teams, this course is created for social workers, counselors, therapists, clinical supervisors, correctional professionals, and program administrators.
